COLOMBO INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CONFERENCE 2019

FIRST EVER LOGISTICS CONFERENCE, 1ST & 2ND AUGUST 2019

Sri Lanka is known as a mega transshipment location in South Asia. In fact, it’s the fastest growing one among major ports of the world, with the rank of 11th best connected port in the world of shipping. Situated in the middle of the Indian Ocean, connecting multiple continents and reaching out to billions of people, many have not realized that the island nation sitting next to the major market of India is probably the best geographical position for logistics, distribution and storage of both bulk and containerized cargo. Sri Lanka has very flexible and an investor friendly environment through its commercial hub act opening the country for logistics FDI with least procedures for international investments. In addition, it has three major ocean ports being extensively developed for variety of purposes and connectivity. Colombo being the main container transshipment port is the only main South Asian port, closest to the East-West shipping route that is well equipped for the 21st century mega container ships.

On the Eastern flank of the country is the world’s second largest natural port, Trincomalee used by the British during the world war two. It is now being designed to be a major maritime city to service the region of Bay of Bengal, connecting South East Asia to South Asia.

As South Asia’s population and the middle-income group expands, demand for products for manufacturing and consumption is likely to triple or quadruple by 2050, making a huge demand for cost effective logistics services. The space in Sri Lanka is unmatchable to any other geographic location to provide logistics to emerging markets. In fact, Sri Lanka is the only location that connects two major hubs of Far-East and Middle East (Singapore & Dubai) within four days of sailing or four hours of flying. This unique advantage combined with the Indian Sub-continent market gives an unprecedented advantage to reduce costs, deliver on time to markets and provide access to consumers.

In view of this developing opportunity, the first ever Colombo International Logistics Conference with the support of the government of Sri Lanka, will be held on 1st & 2nd August 2019, to showcase an investment destination beyond 2020. The conference will be combined with port visits, free zone visits, optional tours as the country has been designated as the “top travel destination for 2019” by Lonely Planet. The conference is put together by CIMC Events, which had two major conferences in Colombo on the maritime industry of Sri Lanka in 2015 & 2016, where over 400 delegates took part. In addition, CIMC Events have conducted two international conferences in Mumbai, India and Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2017/2018 (South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum).

Manufacturing Excellence

Manufacturing Excellence

30 Jul-02 Aug 2019
Singapore

Marcus Evans takes great pride in organising one of our flagship events, the 4th Annual Manufacturing Excellence large scale event from 30th July – 2nd August 2019. Manufacturing is entering a dynamic new phase. By 2025, a new global consuming class will have emerged, and the majority of consumption will take place in developing economies. This will create rich new market opportunities. Meanwhile, in established markets, demand is fragmenting as customers ask for greater variation and more types of after-sales service. A rich pipeline of innovations in materials and processes from nanomaterials to 3-D printing to advanced robotics also promises to create fresh demand and drive further productivity gains across manufacturing industries and geographies.

Industry 4.0 is expected to accelerate over the next 2-3 years transforming manufacturing processes on the way. Industry 4.0 will make supply chains and production processes more interconnected, efficient and flexible, allowing mass-customisation and virtual production.

Manufacturing Excellence

The digital transformation of manufacturing, ongoing convergence of IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operations Technology) and the usage of IoT (Internet of Things), in combination with other technologies, are changing the face of the manufacturing technology landscape and the face of manufacturing itself (processes, people, work, business models and so forth).

Manufacturing earnings and exports are stimulating economic prosperity causing nations to increase their focus on developing advanced manufacturing capabilities by investing in high-tech infrastructure and education.

The Manufacturing Excellence will cover areas like the digital transformation of manufacturing, ongoing convergence of IT and OT and the usage of IoT, in combination with other technologies, are changing the face of the manufacturing technology landscape and the face of manufacturing itself.

Stream One: Operational Excellence & Productivity

This stream is focusing on strategies, methods and techniques that streamline manufacturing operations through creation of smart factory and successful implementation of advanced technologies, industry 4.0, digital manufacturing and IoT, optimisation of Lean, OpEx, quality and safety that are leading the organisation to agility, flexibility, costs reduction, increased output. At the same time we will be addressing the challenges of the transformation process, including leadership and workforce engagement, development, skills, multicultural and multi-plants gaps overcome.

Stream Two: Digital Integration & Automation

This stream is emphasising on rapid integration of diverse new technologies. This will explain how adoption of integrated and connected digital systems and technologies can help to reduce productivity bottlenecks.  Also, how digital manufacturing technologies and data analytics can transform and optimise factory operations, boosting equipment utilisation and product quality while reducing costs.
We will also discuss how by creating digitally integrated ecosystem can cut countless hours from many of the tasks. We will highlight the process of transition to a smart factory using automation, 3D printing, as well as, adopting advance systems for a seamless solution with existing systems. Also recognising the value of disruptive and cloud technologies.

Stream Three: Process Re-Designing & Innovation

We will discuss how redesigning the production processes and systems can increase the flexibility of the operations and drive competitive advantage in meeting future market and customer demands.
This stream will focus on optimising complex manufacturing processes through re-designing and innovation to eliminate waste and increase productivity. Also, we will discuss about real time performance management and continuous improvement.

DAY 3 – Full Day Workshop on Intelligent Manufacturing – Paving the Path to Digital Maturity & Integration

Intelligent manufacturing (IM) means using the combined intelligence of people, processes and machines, to impact the overall economics of manufacturing. Its purpose is to optimise manufacturing resources, improve business value and safety, and reduce waste while meeting customer demands for delivery and quality. Manufacturers achieve this with the latest manufacturing execution system (MES), intelligent devices, machine-to-machine communication, and data analysis for its production lines and facilities.
We will discuss how the cyber-physical systems are best integrated in a factory. The goal of this workshop is to learn how to achieve full potential of automation within the current operations with the support of digital technology and how to enhance the ability of planning and coordination in the operation process and significantly upgrading the manufacturing capabilities.

Day 4 – Supply Chain Optimisation – Optimising your End-to-End Supply Chain

Supply Chain Optimisation is the application of processes and tools to ensure the optimal operation of a manufacturing and distribution. This includes the optimal placement of inventory within the supply chain, minimising operating costs (including manufacturing costs, transportation costs, and distribution costs). With the use of technologies this has been advanced to meet the rising demands in the manufacturing.
The delegates will learn how to optimise the end-to-end supply chain and with the options that digital technologies provide to develop new business models and new strategies, companies should integrate digital technologies into their supply chain to quickly improve service levels while cutting costs up to 30%.

World Water Week

World Water Week

25-30 Aug 2019
Tele2 Arena, Enskede,  Sweden

Water issues have always been major issues in the entire world. So, to discuss this issue and have a talk or discussion about this critical problem, World Water Week is organized. Its main motive is to bring attention of the people to the water-related challenges that are occurring in almost every part if the world. This event allows people to exchange their views, experiences, and practices, between scientific, business, policy and civiccommunities. This problem may lead to several other problems that include, health, climate, economy, and poverty reduction as well. So it needs to be solved and this can be done by the help of scientific studies, maintaining relations between various area expertise, highlight ground breaking research, to develop concrete solutions to water, environment and development challenges.

World Water Week is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. It is organized by SIWI. In 2019, World Water Week will address the theme “Water for society – Including all”. In 2018, over 3,300 individuals and around 380 convening organizations from 135 countries participated in the Week.
Experts, practitioners, decision-makers, business innovators and young professionals from a range of sectors and countries come to Stockholm to network, exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges of today. We believe water is key to our future prosperity, and that together, we can achieve a water wise world.

The World Water Week 2019 theme: time to focus on inclusiveness

In the fourth year of implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 2019 World Water Week addresses the basic objective of this agenda to secure inclusive and sustainable development for all people in all countries. The UN is focusing on “no-one left behind” as the theme for the 2019 World Water Day and World Water Development Report. In Stockholm, we are aligning this 2019 Thematic Scope with that theme, broadened to the wider perspective of inclusiveness. Water security underlies human and environmental security; access to and use of water in adequate quantity and quality are fundamental to survival and prosperity.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set ambitious targets for our future development applying to all countries, whether high, middle or low income. This Thematic Scope covers many of these goals, in particular SDG 1 on poverty, SDG 2 on hunger, SDG 5 on gender equality, SDG 6 on water and sanitation, SDG 10 on inequality and SDG 16 on peaceful and inclusive societies. Achieving these goals is central to the inclusive societal transformation process which is required to achieve all the SDG targets by 2030.
