Based on upbeat market developments, agrofood Nigeria 2019 is to continue its success story.

Nigeria is the 5th largest oil-exporting and 11th largest gas-exporting country. With 194 million inhabitants, Nigeria is also Africa’s most populous country and the 7th most populous country in the world.

Africa’s largest economy is now back on the growth track as Nigeria’s GDP is expected to grow from US$ 376 billion in 2017 to US$ 409 billion in 2018 and US$ 476 billion in 2019 (GTAI).

All these are excellent pre-conditions for agrofood Nigeria 2019, once again organized by the German trade show specialists fairtrade Messe. Together with its partner event plastprintpack Nigeria the show is scheduled for 26 to 28 March 2019 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.

agrofood Nigeria covers the entire value chain, from field to fork, consisting of the three sub-brands agroAgroTech Nigeriafood + bev tec Nigeria and food + hospitality Nigeria.

fairtrade and DLG enter into strategic partnership

Since 2015 agro Nigeria has been organized by fairtrade as part of agrofood Nigeria. Now DLG German Agricultural Society enters into strategic partnership with fairtrade and brings in its agro and trade fair expertise by introducing its AgroTech brand to the agro event of fairtrade’s agrofood trade show. The focus of the cooperation lies on agricultural technology, animal production, flori- and horticulture and hot-house technology. Organisers of the world’s No. 1 trade shows Agritechnica and Eurotier, DLG is the global leader in professional trade fairs in the fields of agricultural engineering, crop production, animal production and bioenergy.

This also applies to the agrofood industry. Nigeria’s imports of food and packaging machinery, for instance, increased by 15% in 2017, to 262 million euros compared to 228 million euros the year before, making Nigeria the second largest importer in sub-Saharan Africa. Nigeria‘s imports of packaging technology even increased by 34% in 2017, from 113 million euros to 152 million euros. (VDMA) Double-digit growth is also forecasted for 2018 and 2019.

Food trade of US$ 4.348 billion – largest foodstuff market in Africa

Nigeria, with its 194 million inhabitants, is Africa’s largest food market. Food trade with Nigeria is a US$ 6.154 billion business, with food imports from Nigeria amounting to $4.348 billion and food exports of US$ 1.806 billion in 2016 (WTO).


Many global leaders and official country pavilions already confirmed

As in 2018 many global leaders have already renewed their participation for the 2019 event. Concerning official national group pavilions Belarus will be represented for the first time at agrofood Nigeria 2019, while China, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland and Turkey will again present themselves with official group participations.

3-day conference program

agrofood Nigeria 2019 will again be supplemented by a 3-day program full of presentations and conferences. Experts and exhibitors will hold presentations on the presentation platform in the center of the exhibition hall. At agrofood Nigeria 2018, 20+ speakers from Nigeria and Europe presented valuable information on technology and finance.

Review of the successful 2018 edition

agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2018 saw 1,544 trade visitors from 26 countries discussing their business with 142 exhibitors (+30%) from 21 countries. 81% of the visitors were decision makers.

Thousands of B2B meetings created high satisfaction rates among exhibitors and visitors:

  • 94% of the visitors recommend the show and 75% plan to invest over the next 12 months
  • 88% of the exhibitors recommend the show and 87% are satisfied with the event as a whole
